A new quarterly literary journal and book imprint

Contemporary Voices: A Great Lakes Literary Review is seeking submissions from writers in the Great Lakes region for its inaugural issue. The new quarterly literary journal will publish poetry, short prose, short nonfiction, creative nonfiction, and short stories. Check back soon for submission instructions.

Beyond the new literary journal, we’re laying the foundation for a book imprint with the same mission to amplify the unique voices that define our communities and unite us regionally. Check back for how to submit book-length proposals.

Not ready for publication? Come to our Monthly Writers Workshop in Pontiac, Michigan, where you can work on short pieces or book-length work in sections, meet peers with similar goals, and learn about the literary world.

“The writer’s job, after all, is not to dictate meaning, but to give the reader enough pieces to create his or her own satisfying meaning. The story is truly finished—and meaning is made—not when the author adds the last period, but when the reader enters the story and fills that little ambiguous space, completing the circuit, letting the power flow through.”
